I bought a netbook. I liked its size. Only problem was it didn't really have any good software installed on it. PerfectNotes.com has a new product that's worth looking into. It's note taking software that is a word processor plus recorder. It makes it easy to go back and listen to anything you missed.

Yes, it is clear that Acer took the second pleace thanks to netbooks. Formerly i guess it is believed Acer's notebooks are not that good but now Acer's netbooks is known well enough. And of course it seems rise of netbooks will increase.

eeePC

I really enjoy the light weight of my 1000HD and it's reliability. I use my larger Presario as a desktop at home and carry the netbook to school and classes (I'm both a teacher and a student). Netbooks are here to stay, at least for several more years. I don't use mine as a latop replacement but as a laptop supplement. I still like a larger screen to design classroom presentations on but carry them back and forth to school / class on the netbook. Of course a quick PowerPoint tweak is occassionally performed too. ;-)

On another note, netbooks will be everywhere because many folks that cannot access the $600 price point for a good laptop will enter the market at the lower $200 and $300 price point. With computing power in the hands of more children and adults, innovation will explode. Yes, these machines were built for the internet and with software becoming more of a service and moving to the cloud they become all the more relevant.

Netbooks are definitely here to stay. I'm am an advocate of the netbook. They are powerful little machine. They are low power and low cost and the right size for kids and adults alike. I carry around a huge EliteBook 8530W by HP and it is great, but I would rather carry a netbook when I travel because of the lightweight and compact size.

It is pretty amazing how well they have done in a short time. The first ones were great for the lightweight portability however limited too far beyond that. Still the improvements continue and people really like them.
