Why is Acer muddying up its image and releasing exact copies of its best-selling netbooks through Pack Bell?

Packard Bell, a division of Acer, the maker of the most popular mini-laptop in the US, is releasing two models of netbooks.

Packard Bell Dot s is a 10″ model and the Packard Bell Dot M is a 11″ model and a quasi-replica of the Acer Aspire One netbook.

Why is Acer muddying up its image and releasing exact copies of its best-selling netbooks through Pack Bell? Well, the reason is simple. It’s a business tactic. It turns out that the Packard Bell computer brand is very strong in Europe and Acer wants to leverage that. Although this may seem logical, it’s not really smart as Acer should be trying to push its leadership worldwide by using one brand.
