You could also buy a MSI wind or akoya and put ubuntu studio on it.
All Freeware and it runs like clockwork. Im using Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 on my Packard Bell Dot 01 NL. It runs even better then the special netbook version.

Basically my netbook can do everything I want, I use it to record guitar on the go, using Audacity, write doc’s in openoffice and listen to my music too.

Why pay more?

I didn’t need windows from the start, but I had to pay for it.

I think its great to see that manufactures are putting special interest in models like these.
