Why do the HP Mini 110 and the HP Mini 1101 have in common? You may want to check out the differences too before you open your wallet

Hewlett-Packard does not mess around. While most computer manufacturers release a mini notebook model on a given day, this computer giant releases two netbooks in the same breath.

The HP Mini 110 netbook is said to be a consumer ultra portable laptop while the HP Mini 1101 netbook is for business users. In other words, the later is for serious stuff while the former is for light stuff.

What makes these two new netbooks different from their older siblings?

At first glance, more power. But there are more differences. See them for yourself…

Will the corporate world embrace the netbook? I think so and so does HP as they plan to unveil a business netbook at the CES. The HP Mini 2140 netbook is targeted at the businesses and differentiates itself from other ultraportable notebooks by having an aluminum design and a slightly higher price tag among many features.

It’s Monday so it means that there’s another netbook on the block. HP has a new netbook for Europe. The Compaq Mini 700 netbook is yet another ultraportable laptop with nothing much to make it stand out. The source of this piece of news has all the details so instead of copy and pasting, I’ll just link to the post: HP launches Compaq Mini 700 netbook in Europe

I can’t tell if it’s the holiday spirit or an effort to boost spending in this economic crisis but HP has decided to shave $40 off the Mini 1000. See: HP Mini 1000 to get $40 price cut

If such a deal is a sign of better deals to come, I am pretty chuffed because the holiday gift buying will be less stressful on my bank balance!

Netbooks are becoming essential fashion accessories. Case in point: the HP Mini 1000 Vivienne Tam edition netbook.

One thing I really like about netbooks is that this time manufacturers have wised up and are making sure to offer things that are actually pretty cute and a pleasure to show off as opposed to dull grey/black desktop replacement type laptops.

We first spoke about the cool Dell netbooks and now the HP Mini 1000 netbook gets really pretty. Vivienne Tam got her hands on one and did a splendid job. I hope that more fashion designer/manufacturers alliances are on the way and that each one of us will be able to have a netbook that reflects his style or personality.

The good news: the HP Mini 1000 netbook can have an always-on Internet connection. There's a bad news that throws a cold shower onto the excitement though.

Recently, Netbook Era was pretty excited about the HP Mini 1000 netbook having a secret 3G modem. We asked you if you had spotted one on yours (assuming that you own a Mini 1000). jk On The Run followed up and just discovered yes indeed you can get mobile broadband with the HP netbook but it’s going to cost some serious beans (HP adds $199 integrated 3G option to Mini 1000 netbook).

If money is no issue or use your netbook for business use, the costs are justified but for the rest of us, we shall stick to chasing after free WiFi signals and hope that the connection is fast enough.

“One of the biggest changes in the Mini 1035NR is the use of the ubiquitous Intel Atom N270 processor compared to the slower VIA C7-M. This gives it a significant boost of performance over the older 2133 Mini-Note and is more on par with similar 10-inch netbook offerings.”, writes About.com in the HP Mini 1035NR netbook review.

HP reasons that if people are encouraged to get a free smartphone but sign a long-term data contract and they end up doing it, the same can be applied with netbooks. The Wall Street Journal sheds some light.

HP has figured out that netbooks are really like smartphones but with larger screens and keyboards and therefore would like to offer it a very low price to customers if they purchase a wireless contract.
