I just wish other notebook/netbook manufactures also give same ability to put usim/sim card at their devices, I'm tired to plug/unplug my external modem.
If not, this Nokia still have something worthy to buy.

Using this netbook and still connected with internet, and NO external modem, is the most interesting thing to me.
Of course we also can do it using wifi+free hotspot, but not in the car (except you place wifi/satellite on your car).

And the price? Yes, it is really UNREASONABLE to pay that much for that small thing with little ability.
Especially when you can buy notebook/netbook that have same spec but with cheaper price, plus external modem.

Oh yeah, one more thing, can we make phone conversation with this Nokia?
I mean REAL PHONE CONVERSATION (voice or video call) and not using Skype or other must-download-than-install-but-must-pay-with-paypall-or-credit card-to-make-call software.

Sevo,

Just because a company is ginormous and has god-like powers does not stop it from making a dud.

Remember Coca-Cola and the New Coke? We can all agree that it's a pretty powerful company, right? What about the most powerful country in the world that's struggling to fight a small group of "men in caves"?

Also, where did I ever say that I was an expert? I am just writing a blog with my own opinions. FYI, one cannot call himself or herself an expert... others do.

But I guess that you are the expert in telling a real expert from a non-expert especially if the person was not vying for that credential...

Sadly the reviewer seems to be more geek trying to make a name for him/herself than a real expert. I mean really....where did you get your info and what is your background to justify yourself as an expert in such?

Nokia is the #1 maker of cell phones in the world. Their parent company is Nokian who is a very large automotive/bicycle tire company....which FYI was originally one of the largest lumber companies in the world at the turn of the century. They are hardly small potatoes.

Nokia has put out a very competitive and solid product that proves our friends in the Tundra did their research while eating their lefse and reindeer tongue.

No ones going to pay that price for a Nokia netbook. Also with most establishments offer free wifi who would want to pay for a data plan associated with owning one. Besides how are those netbooks that Acer and HP supplied to phone carriers? People prefer to purchase a netbook without the data services most of Acer and HP and almost everyone else are sold just as a stand alone unit. Nokia needs to sell the device without associating it with a wireless carrier and then drop the price. You can get a much better netbook for less than what Nokia is charging.

The Nokia netbook doesn't necessarily need to be the iPod of Netbooks to be a success. It seems to me that in this booming market a reasonably successful seller can boost a manufacturers overall sales because this market is growing so fast.

I will say that people seem to like form more than function in this market and the Nokia is pretty slick looking.

I agree with point number 1 but for a different reason having to do with branding. Anybody here remember Xerox computers? Never took off because Xerox was a copier company and they could not overcome the copier branding when affixed to a computer. Same for Nokia in my opinion they will not overcome the phone branding. We will see...

@ Turnips

I don't know, I think 1 is still a pretty valid point. Technically yes, phones are little computers but it also has to do with consumer perception. If you have the choice between a new Nokia netbook and a more seasoned manufacturer like Asus or HP or one of the other established brands, I'd be willing to wager that many would choose the latter.

Turnips, in the world of electronics it seems that if you are not in the top slots, your product will not fare well in the long run as it will be a drag to the parent company.

SquidProQuo, tks for the correction.

Dude,

"The first netbook notebook was launched in 1997, that’s two years ago. "

1997 was 12 years ago.

I think point #1 is invalid as phones are basically little computers, wouldn't you say? As for being doomed, I'm sure the Booklet 3g will make a profit, which doesn't sound like doomed to me.
